In the end of the day i don't have an issue with these kinds of movies. Went on a bit of a spiel, but in my experience this is how it goes with most people lol.Īlso. Also they can be fun to watch with friends, just seeing each others reactions are sometimes more fun than the actual film. Especially those of us who love horror and have seen a wide variety of movies. But point I'm making is that it's a rabbit hole that people go down into. People who aren't interested in having any rape or needless gore in their movies will probably stop at cannibal Holocaust. Now depending on your personal tastes you could very well stop way sooner than this. Horror is still the best I'm going to watch a ton of the movies i enjoy" and then this cycle starts back up again. Afterwards you'll go watch an old favourite horror of yours and realise "hey! This is great. First one I noticed is the newborn scene they cut out the slap to waken the baby and the actual baby. You just want to remind yourself that you can still have that kinda reaction from this media. So after watching it I noticed a few scenes were edited. You watch that category of movies because you've watched so much horror in your life that they don't really scare you like they used to. There's no fun in them, just explicit shock value and desturbing scenes for the sake of being desturbing. These do what they set out to do and they do them well.
Besides the ones you've already seen there'll be some that look kinda obscure to you, but they are recurring so there has to be something to them right? These will be movies like A Serbian Film, salo or the 120 days of Sodom, Funny Games ect. It tells the story of a financially struggling porn star who agrees to participate in an 'art film', only to discover that he has been drafted into a snuff film with. Spasojevi also co-wrote the film with Aleksandar Radivojevi.
So you'll google "most messed up/desturbing movie ever in the history of ever" An at this point you'll keep seeing the same movies on most lists online. A Serbian Film (Serbian: / Srpski film) is a 2010 Serbian horror film produced and directed by Sran Spasojevi in his feature film debut. Now at this point in your horror movie career you've probably already seen most of the popular ones thst fit the bill. And you'll be like "hey that was a fun movie! I haven't seen so much gore in a while let me go on a disturbing binge again" So you'll go back tyo watching your normal horrors, then something along the lines of Terrifier will pop up. People will get fatigued of these sorta films quickly though because they are inherently draining, and there are a limited amount of them out there. Movies made to disturb and shock but still having good production quality.
Most of us will start with cannibal Holocaust, for some that'll be enough and others will say nah I want to keep going down this rabit hole and go to things like martyrs, human centipede, audition ect. Every horror fan reaches a point where they decide they want to see the most messed up movies they possibly can.
